Started in 2008, Johnny came off the road with some big acts & began to see this private drum business and the passionate percussion people of Texas that were coming in to learn, as something that was bigger then he ever imagined, here we are still getting to share that magic now!
Now traveling to over 150 homes a week from Lakewood to Rockwall, a growing team of instructors that aren’t just good at drumming & playing anything that is desired, but GOOD WITH PEOPLE & seeing exactly what it is you need to SUCCEED at music!

What do I need to get started?
All you need is the love for music, your own drum sticks, and a lesson book will be provided to each and every student. Lessons are transcribed from scratch which is unique to TSDL and the notes that each student receives are customarily written for them & their goals.
Do I need my own drum set?
For home lessons, you have the option to shop drums through TSDL, or the instructor will travel with a drum set to your home. The studio also has plenty of drum sets to play!
What age do I need to be to get started?
We start at age 2!
Do you offer at home lessons?
TSDL is constantly in homes across the metroplex, and we travel up to 15 miles from downtown; so yes!
How long does it take to become a skilled drummer?
Everybody’s experience is different depending how much you practice, but from never picking up sticks to playing on stage with a band is about a two year process (that’s practicing each and every day for about an hour to reach that goal), and the average busy human with a regular job and responsibilities could take three to four years.
Do you offer group lessons?
Group Lessons are available once the student reaches the skill level to be placed in the group class, but we also offer specials to “bring a friend” or loved one to play with while you learn for a small additional fee.
